She destroys numerous diseases , as well as she is the goddess of numerous medicine, also she is the goddess of love and affections. That is why, she is called Totala(babble) cause like mother babble to her children. Babble in the indian local languages of Himachal is called Totala. The goddess Totala speaks to her devotees with such affections and love, she is very complex to understand but she is so full with affections. That is why, she speaks to us in our pointless babbles, and explains the important things to us. It is said the babbling became famous because of her. And it is said that, whenever we pray to lord, our words doesn’t have that necessary radiance and divinity in them.
Which should be there. That’s why all our mantras , karmakhandas , prayers are nothing but a babble infront of the goddess , but because, mother has a huge heart, she accepts our prayers or efforts, which are just a pointless babbles for her and speaks to us in the same manner.
This is the biggest mystery this deep relationship of son and mother appears in the form of Maa Totala.
The most terrible of disease, even many of these disease which aren’t even known by the mankind, or even those disease which might come in existence in future. It is said that, the goddess is capable of destroying all this diseases.
Maa Totala is Kurukulla , Tara and Maa Totala in varna bedh (colour difference a loose translation ) become 10 mahavidhyas.
Ma Totala is very famous in Kaulant math. We worship her as Kurukulla. We don’t directly interfere with Maa Totala cause one of her name is also know as Pischa-mukhi (the one who destroys you ).Cause when we cant understand her principles, then her Pischah-muhi form can cause your destruction.  This Form of the goddess is taken for the destruction of the world. In Himalayas goddess  resides in various place in a various forms. In some places it is Tamsi. That is why, in dugra sapth sathi the glory of goddess Tamsi is also mentioned. Tamsi is bhagwati Maa Totala herself. That is why near Totala temples the sadanas are performed in certain time and certain seasons , one can’t do sadana of the goddess throughout the year. Thou this is a bizarre opinion, but that is what kaulachar is. That is what is known as rahasya vidya, the mysterious knowledge.

Maa Totala that should be approached with cautions. We will discuss that part later, as this is related to sadana of the Goddess. 
So this goddess has very wonderful forms.
As she is the goddess or prime energy, who rules over all the elements, which have medicinal qualities. She is also the form of goddess Durga herself, and of mother Tara, she is so powerful, that by just remembering her name, your ability to respond to medicine increases, and the ability of diseases to attack you goes down. In general terms you may say it has direct effects on your immunity. From ancient time Indian Vaidya and chikitsak, modern day equivalent to medical doctor, then Rishi, munis did sadana (worship in a particular tradition) of mother Totala, so that their medicine gives best possible results. Great divine Sages like Charak and even higher gods like Bharma and others, continuously sing praises of Mother Totala, cause mother Totala is not a mere small healing energy, she is infinite. As no element in the universe, is such which doesn’t have medical properties, and Mother Totala is the primordial energy or goddess of all medical properties.
It is said not just human fall sick but everything, animals , planets , air, water, stone, conscious or material elements all fall sick. And to bring them back to their original healthy state, it is necessary to surrender to this divine power. That is the precise reason why, when ever you in your life take the name of mother Totala, listen to her mantras and contemplate or meditate on her mantras, then all medicines will have great effect on you and you stay away from Rog (disease). Rog are of three types, physical Rog, mental Rog and shukshma Rog(which are caused due to past life karmas or some spiritual problems). From all this one can be healed. Mother Totala is also called four headed or four faced goddess out of which one face is very Frightful, very dark. It has the power to kill (maran). It is believed all the diseases in the world are caused due to this particular face of the goddess, this face is right opposite of the healing forms of the same goddess. When this face is turned into, any direction there the silence of death begins. That is why we should pray to Goddess that we move from death towards life, from darkness towards light. That is why we should focus on the healing form of mother Totala by singing this mantra this mantra has been sung in the same way from ancient of times in Himalayas. So we should do the same.
In himalayas mother Totala mysterious resides in its medicinal plants, etc. That is the precise reason for them to be so effective.
