Many time in your life, you may think that, why certain things
happen with you. They maybe good, or bad. And then you might think, or wonder,
about Karma.
Life has its fair share of pain and joy. Thou joy makes us feel
good, and we are eager to have more joy in our lives, and we try our best to
avoid pain, or sorrows. Anyways everyone is actually trying to make our life
better. Our environment full of comfort. That is the sole reason we want to
love people, and get loved by everyone. But even then you feel that there is
something missing in this world, or maybe something wrong, with this entire
world. And there is some principles in this world. Which either you arent able
to know, or that principle, or law, is bringing problems, or issues in your
life, and you have no solution for it. And so as to understand this, and unlock
this mystery, one should understand karm. All of our lives are bound by karm.
But then what is this karm ? and is our whole life bound by this karm. Like we
find astrologers, who say due to certain planet, or star, you could do this, or
that will happen with you. If we start believing them, in entirety then according
to them your whole life is pre-determined. Then a question follows. If our
whole life is predetermined, then why should we act ? why shouldn't all of us
take our birth charts, keep thousands of astrologers with us, and do everything
as they say ? But then even in past and present, all big and famous astrologers
have failed. Even the great sages and lords like Vishwamitra and Vishit, has
also made mistake. Maha rishi Parashar also miscalculated. Bhrama the creator
himself, had to tell, that so many mistakes has happens in compiling this
Jyotish shastra, i.e The science of astrology and to rectify them. If
lord Ved Vyas and Maharishi Parashar, if they could go wrong.
how can you trust any ordinary astrologer ?
So before you trust anyone, you must understand this life, and how
is it related to karm, and what is karm, and why your joys, and sorrows depends
on karma. Why you say it is my last births karma that I am suffering
today or even in this birth you did some thing wrong, and the result of the action
is your suffering pain today ? And why, when you get something good, or meet
some great personality you say it is my past life's good deeds, or punya. That
I have the fortune of meeting that personality or have this unexpected joy ?
Many thousand years ago, when Bhagwan Vishun had descended on to
this world, in an avatar, then he said this, and maybe even in future, he will
say same thing. That Karm are of 3 types one is Karm then the other one
is Akarm and the third one is Vikarm.
When ever we do a work, with the desire of something it is karm.
For example, If you are going for a football match, where there is a
context between your home team, and a team from some other town. Then if your
going to the match, to see your home team win i.e, you want to be part of that
victory it maybe through thoughts, emotions or even by physical contribution,
it doesnt matter.Thats why it is karm.
Akarm i.e, without any expectation, you go there, or do any work.
It doesn't mean, ignoring the match, so that it doesn't effect you, or not
doing anything. But it is rather doing something with full involvement, but
without any attachment. i.e to go to the match, and enjoy the match, for what
it is, without wanting a particular outcome. You may even cheer for team. But
their defeat or victory, will have no effects on you. You be in the
moment, this is what yogi is. People who are liberated do this. In this state,
you will even admire, if the other town has won, and you will even appreciate
the your towns home teams struggle, and challenge it gave to the winning team.
Vikarm, i.e to do action which are violent. It might be again
physical, verbal , emotional or even by thoughts. In the context of the
football match. If you start beating the rival teams support, cause you want
only your home team to be supported. So that they could win, or you wish the
opposing team star player to get injured, anything you think, say, feel or do.
for your home team to win by causing harm to the opposing team is Vikarm.
Our lives works on this three things, but we must understand, this
darkness of life. You should never be totally depended on astrology. Astrology
is like a lamp, in the darkness, it can show you part of your road to
some extent, but it cant show you the entire road. Cause then the principle of
karm will have to fail. You may do any action in your life. If you do it
without any expectation, then it becomes Akarm, which is very good for
you. If you do it out of some desire then it will become karm. And if your
desire has violence, greed , lust , jealously and other negativity, then it
becomes vikarm.
Now this actions will guide your lives. If you do karm, then
you will get its results. i.e is your going for the football match, to see your
team wining. Then you have to be ready for the results, if they win you will
feel good, if they lose you will feel bad, cause now your karm has started. So
you have to be ready for both. But if your vikarmi. Then there is a
problem, if your team is losing and you start beating the fans of other team,
either you might beat him and go to jail, or get beaten. If your team wins and
you taunt the opposing teams fans, then again he might taunt you back, or fight
with you. And then the same thing will happen, either you will get beaten, or
you might end up in jail. That is the reason, vikarm will always bring sorrow
in your life. But even a person is involved or entangled with karm. They cannot
see the beauty of this life.
Let us talk of something everyone desires that is love. Thou we
usually misunderstand love. Love is actually eternal and omnipresent
or all encompassing. We may love our parents, our country, our family
,nature everything. Think of it. The breath which we takes, if it
suddenly stops, and right at the moment when we are suppose to die, If we catch
the breath. Then you will start loving your breath, right ? If your thirsty in
a desert, and you find water, will you not love that water ? Ask a hungry man,
who has not eaten in days, how much does he loves food. A homeless person, who
spent years on street, if he gets a house, thou it may be small and tiny, but
he will love that house right ? so love is much bigger and all encompassing.
But many a times we link it with relations and selfishness i.e, what is
relations just a set of promises, or contentedness. what is loyalty that is
security for your self, you want someone to love only you, that is, you want
that person to be your slave in a way. Thou I am not saying that loyalty
doesn't have its value. What I am trying to tell you is the greatness of love
as kaulantaknath says. lets disengage from what is love and talk of karm.
If some lover want his lover to be his then or he dreams
that they will stay grow old together ,or she will help him or he will do this
and that for her or any other kind of desire. when this dream will break your
will feel unbearable pain so much so that some of you may end your lives and if
you dont kill your self then you will start hating love or maybe atleast hate
that particular person. you will talk ill of that person, mock, abuse or stay
away from that person. then you will get results of the karm and now you have
started vikarm too.
If you start increasing the level of desires in your action. Say
in this example, you start having more desires, or expectation from your loved
once, then you will surely start attachment from that person in a negative way.
Where it will bring pain to you. The very moment your desires aren't full
filled, you will start abusing and hating that person, and your love will
cease, worst it will turn into hate.
The same feeling of love, when cheated will scratch your
ego. As if no one can cheat on you. Why are you Bribal(wisest of man in Akbar's
court) ? the beauty of life is its uncertainty. Incidents teaches us, we grow,
but only if we look at it in that way. But the moment we start hating someone,
engulfed in our ego, we have initiated a sin.
Now your life is lost in darkness, people may call it depression.
Its not that the lover is pushing you into it, rather it is your own thoughts.
Cause now when you hate someone, you are trapped in this cycle of Vikarm. If
you have just loved her and let her go, wishing her well and cherishing the
time you had together. Then you would have ripped the benefits of the good
karma, definitely you would have suffered pain of parting away, left alone, you
would have cried, but then eventually you would come out of it. But now the
situation is different, you want some one better just to make her jealous. you
would hate her, and say what and what not. now you have started to sin. your
life will revolve around her, in a very negative way. you would not be the same
again. Even if you have chance you will never be able to embrace her again,
forget that you will run away from her sight, you will not want to be in the
place, where that person is. Now this same Vikarm will sallow you ,
destroy you.
But if you want to be a Yogi , a true lover , or even live
your life in a right manner.
Then there is one rule to it. That is Akram, which is to do your
karma, without worrying about the out come of it, without any attachment
towards it.
To make it more simpler, in relation, with the same example,
when you have a chance to love someone, love that person with all your heart.
When you have moment of separation feel those flavors in entirety, and if you
have a chance to reconcile do reconcile. Be open.
Dont have any expectation from people. That you should get your
lover, that if you get your lover you would use her or him. You will get her
property, or would display her as a trophy wife, or if you get him, you will
use his name , luxuries, or bank balance. This is what goes on here right ?
People want husband and wife, so that they could show it, to the
world, or their friends and families.
As if they are showpiece, as we even have the term trophy wife.
Nobody does it for himself, its more for their social standing and ego
gratification. So for people relations, families and friends are nothing but
their showpiece, which gives them a social standing, thus making them karm
phal. Which brings them results for sure either the results are good or worst.
Both this conditions aren't good for you. And if your not
able to handle this love, and starts falling for it, and start putting your
heart out, praising your partner or relative with expectation of reciprocation.
The day the relation is broken, you will understand, how all that you have
done, has been a waste. And that is a very painful situation.
Even if you dont treat the relationship right, then too you will
have regrets, and it will also be very painful. This are very fine things, you
need to understand, it very deeply.
But if you understand Akarm. Then you will understand, the mere
existence of your lover and love her, while living your life and actually
this is what love is, right ? and this pure love is Akarm and that Akarm is
what is life, when you just give , contribute without anything in return or
else everything is a trade, and trade is always be karm or vikarm. This is all
linked minutely. It not that in between of your past life and future life
everything is defined, no it is not.
Jyotish is a vidya.
Consider I am gonna die tomorrow. Thou it is very difficult to avoid it, but
then jyotish (astrology) can be an indicator. But form where this
indication comes. It is because we have done some karm, or vikarm in our past
lives. Which is there somewhere in the universe. Normally most of our karm, and
vikarm are payed in this life itself. But in case, if it is left. We might have
to repay, or suffer, or enjoy its phala, that is results in this life. For that
jyotish (astrology) can be of help. You can even develop your sixth
sense, or raise your consciousness level to get insights into it, and reduce
it's effects. That is the reason, no one in the world can make a chart of your
life, and give you every detail about your life. And for that same reason, you
should only use Jyotish (astrology) as a guide, but never be,
totally dependent on the it, otherwise you will never be able to understand,
Karm Vikarm or Akram, nor will you be able to understand life.
Who is a yogi ? Yogi is
not necessary, the one who only lives in himalayas. Even the great yogis
like Kaulantak nath didn't live in the himalyas, cause god is lost there. He
choose himalayas cause his Guru is there, further it is the very important part
of this world. That no where means other places aren't important. All land is
scared and important in its own way. We aren't comparing things, it is just
most yogis found it very dear. For some other yogi may be his own land might be
comfortable and dear.
Anyways for a yogi all
land are equal, as he is normally not attached to a place. But himalayas has
guru mandal, and various evolved spiritual beings, practice their spiritual
practice there,.That is the reason Himalayas are dearer for many yogis
including Kaulantak Nath. But it is not necessary that all mukt yogi aren't
only found in himalayas, India is a very scared land, it a mysterious land.
you will always find
good things in India, no matter how bad it looks.
So a Yogi can stay in
himalayas, or in the society. A yogi is complete in whatever place time or
condition he is. And a yogi is everything, he is a very good lover , a very
good son, a very good friend , a very good artist , a very good professional ,
a very good Guru, everything.
Why is Yogi best ?
Cause whatever a yogi
will do, he will put all his existence in it. He will be totally devoted to
that work. Why are great people are successful, cause they would live
everything and put all their energies into one thing. As swami Vivekanadha said
when you focus on one thing it illuminates.
If a yogi loves someone,
he would just love that person even beyond limits. He will lose himself in that
love. When ever you do anything, with this passionate detachment, you will
always succeed. If someone is burning with such a passion, and yet is detached
to the results. His existence is dedicated towards the process. Then rivers can
flow in the opposite direction, the earth may stop to rotating , the sun might
not burn , but the truth and effort of this person will never go waste.
If you want to come out
of the pain, and suffering then, you have to free yourself from the desires,
lust and greed. So that you bring your life on track. So if you want to learn
bout life, and live it to your fullest then one must understand Akram, and
become a yogi. No one becomes a Yogi just by a certain type of dress or tilak.
Whatever the clothes maybe, and wherever you maybe, or whoever you maybe your
yogi. If its Raining outside and you can enjoy that moment your a yogi , if you
feel your getting wet, and your clothes will get wet. You have started
they cycle of karma, and if you start cursing the rain, and the nature, you
have started vikarm. Now you might even fall ill even your body might behave in
a negative fashion. And you will lose the beauty of rain forever.
This is same with
happiness and suffering , If you curse your situation it is Vikarm , if you
just go through it then it is Karm, and if you just observe the pain, then it
is Akarm Then your Yogi.
One can apply this
principle in any situation and analysis.
But again The principle
of Karm is not that, if you have won a lottery. It is because of your
previous birth deeds. Behind this also the principle of Karm , Vikarm
plus the time, place and conditions has their inputs.
Then what is past life
?
In a simple way, If your
life is 100% out of that only 2% things are out of your past lives karma, rest
98% is all free. That is the reason, you can do paap and punya , you have
profit and loss. The freedom is so much so, that even in this life time, you can
free yourself from Karm and vikarm, be Akarmi and get out of the cycle of birth
and death, and attain moksha.
I have tried to explain
you this through various points. so that you can understand it very well.
You must live your life
to the fullest, and to do so, one should have knowledge , to understand karm ,
vikarm and Akarm, each of this entity in different situation one needs
knowledge. This is very old principle , it is nothing new but just a reminder.
lets take a negative
example.
India has various
relations like a shisha (student) , father , mother , friend , brother ,cousin
, family , extended family, even a bond of surnames or village, these are very
deep bonds . which aren't so deep in developed countries. Thou today India is
also losing this slowly. Now people dont like to be called Shisha even in
India. It is because they don't have the ability to feel this relationships,
nor do they understand what ,and how these bonds are ?
Whatever may happen your
intentions must be pure.
In India the guru, the
parents or even the elders, use to beat their pupils, or shisha ,or young once.
Now the law of the state, don't allow. But ask any elder how much beating they
have taken even those of us in 90's, have taken a good pasting from our
brother,.teacher,parents or uncles.
Ask your self can
you leave them for that reason ?
Can you ignore them, if
they are suffering , even if you do on face, but the truth will be, you will be
concern, or even go and cry when your alone.
But in the developing
countries, if a father says something to their child, they might end that
relation and walk away. this is cause they don't know the depth of a relation.
They dont understand, that deep bonds aren't effected by the use of mouth,
punches or kicks. here we had the strength to take the beating. Further we
knew, it was out of concern and care, and therefore a usual thing. But today if
any parents beat-up their independent child, then their relationship would end.
What does it means
?
What kind of karm is it
? Was beating you or slapping him or her was a good karma ? or bad ?
By law it is wrong to
hit anyone, but the principle of Karma says, that if you have beaten up the
child out of good intention, then you are free from the repercussions of
karmas. Rather it will provide you a shub (good) results. like a Yogi. So if
you slap your child cause, he was doing something wrong, it is legally wrong,
but according to yog many a times its is not a sin(Paap). But there is a
fine line here, and to understand that line, you need to have right knowledge.
Say sometime your intention were good, but you cause irreparable damage, say
for example you didnt want to kill some one, but unfortunately you killed him,
then isnt it a sin or not ?
This was the same
argument between Krishna and Arjuna.
Arjun didnt wanted to
fight. Cause his argument was, he taking part in this war, will cause violence
and by doing violence, He didn't want to do Vikram, cause this is Vikarm.
That time Shree Krishna
explains that your understanding it wrong. What I am trying to explain you,
your not trying to understand. Your are trying to go back in ignorance. What I
am trying to tell you is to be in the state of Akram and do things. And the
state of Akarm is the state of Yogi. So this is the web of karm. So knowledge
is very important.
So understand the
principle of karm, and take the best of it. It has effects of time, place and
conditions. No where we are saying to beat, or slap your child, or wife, or
your husband etc. Dont take the examples to justify your karmas. Just
understand it, and apply it wisely. It will always give you the right benefits,
if applied right.
Thank You.
Salutations to my Lord
Ishputra.
